Single Audio Channel is an exciting new music project by singer-songwriter Glynn Hayward, who has beautifully captured the essence of a bygone era of the 90s britpop scene while remaining firmly rooted in the present. This emerging indie pop band from Bath, UK, is recognized for its jangly guitars and irresistibly catchy tunes, embodying the spirit of indie rock.
In the 90s, Glynn was the singer/guitarist in a three-piece melodic punk band from Bristol called The Curfew. Later in the 2000s, he fronted the punk covers band Stiff Little Bristols for over a decade.
After experiencing hearing loss in one ear, Glynn stepped back from music and founded a children’s digital agency called Complete Control, named after a song by The Clash, focusing on creating games and apps for children's brands. His most recent television and animation project involved creating a mixed media music TV series for CBeebies titled Nick Cope's Popcast, where he served as Series/Creative Director.
Now, Glynn is revisiting his passion for music with Single Audio Channel—a name that reflects his hearing issue of only being able to hear from one ear. He is looking forward to releasing and promoting his debut album, 'My Beloved Friend.'
If you are caught in the dilemma of social media constantly demanding your attention, this song will speak to you.
The song's DIY post-punk style, with its fuzzy, jangly guitars and raw yet dreamy vocals, perfectly complements the theme. It's catchy and arty, with a certain sense of psychedelia and retro 90s indie vibes.
I was inspired to write my latest song about the man who owns the moon, Mr Dennis M Hope, an entrepreneur from the USA, who claimed ownership of the moon in 1980. He
has made millions of dollars selling plots of land up there.
Single Audio Channel has absolutely nailed it with ‘Houston’—a jangly, uptempo indie rock gem that feels like a sun-drenched throwback to late 80s and early 90s indie. There’s an undeniable charm here.
There’s a lot to like about this one, especially since it name checks the famous words of the Apollo 13 mission “Houston we have a problem”. I think that Single Audio channel has caught the mood perfectly with this song, I can see a lot of people relating to this.
More than just a song—it’s a mantra of resilience wrapped in a charming 90s inspired indie soundscape. With its positive, heartwarming message and relatable sentiment, this track serves as a reminder that no one has to face their struggles alone, and that asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness.
The inspiration behind “My Beloved Friend” is as intriguing as its sound. Drawing from the notorious email scams of our digital age, the song narrates the story of a so-called wealthy prince promising untold riches in exchange for a small advance.
A track that perfectly captures the modern-day dilemma of doom scrolling. In an era where social media constantly demands our attention, pulling us away from the tangible world, this song speaks to the instant gratification of likes, the illusion of virtual friendships, and the hollow existence of living through screens.
